"The Government and people of Ghana, First Lady Rebecca and I are deeply saddened by the news of the death, in Berne, Switzerland, of one of our greatest compatriots, Mr. Kofi Annan.

It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness. His wife Nane and their children Ama, Kojo and Nina were by his side during his last days.

Following the sudden demise of H.E. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana on Friday 29th June 2018, a book of condolence was opened for signing at the Embassy for all Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations from Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th July 2018.

It is sixty-one years today since our nation Ghana won her independence, and it is fitting that we should gather to celebrate the anniversary of this special day.

MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION

On behalf of the Mission, I wish to thank all who graced our 61st Independence Day Anniversary celebrations with their presence. Special gratitude goes to my fellow Ambassadors, the Diplomatic Corps, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the Business Community, the Ghanaian Diaspora and all and sundry.
